Are you ready to SHINE and BE the inspiring woman and leader you are meant to be? Aren’t you so done with your “inner-critic” running the show?
If you were to get real honest with yourself, are you secretly jealous and perhaps find yourself judging or feeling intimidated by the woman who lights up a room by her mere presence…yet, at the same time, you are totally mesmerized by her, want to be around her, and wish you could be like her?
Sisters, this is not your fault.
We have not been taught the value of our heart, our pure sensual essence, our emotions, and the power of our presence. That’s right. We all came to this world connected with our radiance and fearless about showing up as the bright lights we were…until the radiance was smothered by a painful experience or the messages we heard in our youth.
We have been taught that accomplishing something is what makes us worthy. We are taught that you need to “cover up” to avoid the “wrong kind of attention.” We have been blamed, shamed, shunned, and gossiped about for who we are when we allow ourselves to shine.
And over time, the voices of all of those outer critics have melded together to become our “inner-critic” – the one that talks us out of being who we are, moving toward what we desire, and helping others do the same.
But we do not have to live there. We can let our lights shine.
The truth is, the world is your oyster when you live from your radiant self. Nothing upsets you ever again on the level that it has in the past because the best kept secret and the party of the century is living inside of each and every one of you. It’s waiting to be uncorked…waiting to be claimed, by you.
I, myself, have been on quite a journey around this. If you met me today, you would see a radiant woman whose mission is to help other women step into their radiance, but I was not always this way…
Like most little girls, I was a playful, radiant, joyful girl until I was admonished, shamed, and shunned for me being “me.” It was so painful that I shut down, hid, and got fat. I became one of the women who said, “I can do it on my own.” I was body-obsessed (after losing over 80 pounds being an obese teenager), and my self-worth was directly correlated to how flat my stomach was. My heart was closed because it was too painful to open it and keep getting hurt. I felt bumped around by love, and so I became guarded and made unfit choices in the men I dated.
On an unconscious level, I did not value myself because I had bought into the lies that were communicated to me as a child – that my radiance was too uncomfortable for other people, that it was going to hinder my life and opportunities, and that it would keep me isolated, unloved, and disconnected from those I longed to have relationship with.
I lived there, in pain and isolation, until I made the decision to BE ME and allow the natural radiance to come through in every room and every situation. And life has never felt so good.
Think of the word “Enlighten.” Most of the religious traditions this is what we are all really trying to achieve in this world, and when you say it out loud, it sounds like “in-light-in.” We are light. When we shine, we shed light on all that is not, and this either inspires others or it pisses people off (when they don’t like what they see).
And this, my Sisters, is why we are afraid to shine. We are afraid to shine because it is powerful and we unconsciously fear how people will react to us.
So here is a little nugget of wisdom that completely changed my life:
How others respond to us is really none of our business. When we heal the need to be liked (or can at least know what it is when it arises), when we let go of the need for approval and validation, when we stop judging ourselves (and others), when we let go of “perfectionism,” and when we allow ourselves to shine, our Radiance lights up a room and has magical powers.
Your smile alone will make someone’s day, your energy and presence will be felt by all those around you, and you will magically manifest and magnetizethat which is your heart’s desire. When you allow and give yourself permission to be who you ARE and to live out your purpose – to be the way showers of an open heart, to share your unique gifts, and to be seen – the inner-critic in you will dissolve.
We will not feel bad for hiring a support team, a mentor, or for anything else for that matter, so we can up-level our business and our life. We will practice self-care and book the massage, or go to the yoga class, or take an unwinding walk in nature to de-compress, and we won’t feel lazy or guilty about it.
We will walk into a room radiating confidence, sharing the gift of our open and loving hearts, and we will be walking role models for our daughters, sisters, and the men of this world. I invite you to imagine what theworld would be like if we would all let our radiance come through.
Is it “Safe To Shine?” Absolutely! I invite you to give yourself permission to be the woman you are inspired by, and begin or continue the journey of re-awakening your radiance. It starts with you.
